When I joined CCCS 14 years ago, I entered a rehearsal room in Calvary Lutheran Church with many
unfamiliar but friendly faces, and as I found my seat, I was warmly welcomed by tenor section rep John
Fryer on my right, and fellow tenor Dave Rowland on my left. Though I was one of just a few members
under the age of 30, I felt right at home within this singing community, and have made many fast
friendships along the way.
Since then, we moved our rehearsal space to Rustin High School in the choral classroom of Ann Ellis,
formed a Chamber Ensemble, toured the Finger Lakes with a performance at Alfred University, and
premiered two pieces by local Chester County composers. We performed hundreds of choral works
spanning centuries and genres, tackled virtual recordings during the COVID pandemic, experimented
with expanded small group singing, modernized our web presence and digital communication, and just
this year expanded our artistic leadership with member Pattie Mancuso serving as Associate Director. Also during those years, we lost some members to death (including John and Dave), some moved away, but many more joined our ranks anew, including a greater share of younger singers than when I had
joined years earlier.
Choral singing is one of the rare intergenerational activities in our larger society, and we're thrilled to be able to sing together as a chorus with newly strengthened ranks. Thank you for your support of CCCS, and we look forward to seeing you at our Spring Concert and Reception!
