It is Elaine Hagenburg's first large-scale work for chorus and orchestra, drawing from lesser-known Latin, Greek, and English sacred texts. Illuminare takes us on a journey where beauty and joy are disrupted by darkness and confusion, but eventually hope and light is restored as we look towards the future. W.A. Mozart's Requiem is legendary in the annals of choral music, but listeners may find some new surprises in the 1991 Robert Levin completion we will be performing. Levin's scholarly approach to the piece draws on original manuscripts as well as structural and stylistic analyses to correct and improve upon the familiar Süssmayr edition. << Click to download a PDF of our concert poster.
